The Soviet all-wheel-drive ZiL-131 cross-country truck was developed at the Likhachev Moscow Automobile Plant in the 1960s and remained in production until 2002. Almost a million trucks (998,429 units) were produced. The vehicle was largely unified with the ZiL-130, simplifying maintenance and repairs. The ZiL-31 itself combined excellent cross-country performance, reliability, driver comfort, and moderate fuel consumption on the move. The vehicle was supplied to the Soviet army and the national economy. It was actively used by various services, including the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The ZiL-131 was also exported to dozens of countries worldwide.
