Review
This title from Peko Publishing is the 6th release in the TTL series and provides the interested party with a hardbacked book, printed in landscape with 1 image per page. The accutual content titles of this book covered 123 pages with the author being Jon Feenstra. These book releases from Peko Publishing cover a standard methodology where the purpose is to show you a series of vehicle or events with 6 specific parts in this release. The 6 vehicles covered here are:
TYP 82 Kfz.I Kubelwagen
Pz. Kpfw. VI Tiger Ausf.E (Tiger 1)
Gepanzertrzugkraftwagen and 8.8cm Flak 18 Bunkerkancker
15cm s.I.G.33 (Sf) Auf Pz.Kpfw.I Ausf.B
Geschutzwagen III/IV Fur S.F.H.18/I (Sf.) (Sd.Kfz.165) “Hummel”
Somua S35/Pz.Kpfw.35S
There is no dedicated text in the release, but underneath each of the photographs is a well written caption in English of various lengths and detail. The first 23 pages cover the Kubelwagen, 20 pages cover the Tiger, Zugkraftwagen is covered in 20 pages, the unusual Sig is covered in 18 pages, the Hummel is covered in 20 pages and the Somua is covered in 20 pages. The quality of the period photographs is a mix, with some being far better than others. They are all in black and white, the captions for each photograph are pleasingly written with some provideing in depth detail that could not be automatically picked up from the image itself. I myself, would have preferred the content on the Tiger to have been dropped and the space used for an alternate inclusion or a wider selction of images from the other 5.this is not because the Tiger has not earnt a place, but there are so many titles covering the Tiger tank I find myself questioning the value of its inclusion in this release. The section covering the Sig 33, Hummel and in particular the Somua S35 I did find particularly interesting. The Somua because images are not that common and I also confess that the S35 and the Char B1 offered by Tamiya keep calling to me, and I keep trying to convince the wife that the £100 that it would cost is a good investment. I will let you guess the answer to this one. So the result is another pleasing hardbacked offering from Peko Publishing and my comment about the Tiger inclusion is a personal perception.
