WW2 Vehicles Through the Lens is a new series of photographic albums presenting military and civilian vehicles used by the military during World War Two. Each book will have six-eight parts, each dealing with a different subject featuring mostly previously unpublished photographs.

There is very little text to this book, only a paragraph to acknowledge Peko publisher Peter Kocsis, Holger Erdmann, and wife Linda (among others) at the front and then it is captions to the images, all of which are large and clear. Vehicles covered include the following: Lastkraftwagen 3t mit Gleiskette (Maultier) (Sd.Kfz.3), Panzerkampfwagen III Ausf.E (Sd.Kfz.141), Pz.Sfl.2 für 7.2cm Pak 36 (Sd.Kfz.132) (Marder III), Panzerjäger Tiger (P) mit 8.8cm Pak 43/2 (L/71) (Sd.Kfz.184), T-34/76, Steyr 1500A.

The captions are concise, there is only space for a couple of sentences, and give context to the image it refers to, usually a location, unit, or action where known, and it is something that impressed me how well researched the images are. I've included the caption on the image examples below to demonstrate this.

About the only thing that came across as odd was the random selection of vehicles portrayed, there seemed no rhyme or reason to.... a half track truck, Panzerjägers, or Russian, including beute, tanks. But hay, it works for me. There is no emphasis on any particular vehicle, each receiving about the same in coverage.

There is plenty here to like, for me it was the mighty Ferdinand, whether in the rear area under repair, fighting on the front, or knocked out; there being a lot to inspire modelling a scene or general theme.

Grab it while you can, easily recommended for those who like a fantastic collection of clear images for the vehicle of your choice.
