I had a particular interest in reviewing this title as I deployed to Guadalcanal for six months with work several years ago and had been to many of the places mentioned and identified in the text. 

Guadalcanal was the essential victory for the Allies in the Pacific as it was the staging area for attacks north, island hopping to the Japanese mainland. This book, in the images of war series, captures the harsh environment and realities of war in the tropics, and everyday life for soldiers on both sides.

The images are plentiful, clear, and well captioned as you'd expect in this series. Some of the images are full page, some are a half page, but they are well chosen for the story they convey and the accompanying caption gives context. The book is well balanced, apolitical, and well researched, with individuals' names mentioned where known or relevant.  

There are some very good references images that will serve as inspiration for modelers, whether aircraft or vehicles, maybe ships, too. 

There really isn't much more to add, it is a short read per se, but loads of images to pore over endlessly finding more details, easily recommended.
