Introduction:
The M240 machine gun is the U.S. military designation for the FN MAG, a family of belt-fed, gas-operated medium machine guns that chamber the 7.62×51mm NATO cartridge.
One of Pelican™ Mobile Armory™ cases is configured to hold M240B machine gun (without tripod) and an extra barrel. It can also accommodate the NEW M240G with its Infantry Modification Kit.
This review deals with Modern US Army PELICAN™ M240B Machine Gun Case (E-069) from Eureka XXL, delivering the Mobile Armory™ case as a 1/35 scale accessory set.
Review:
The set comes in a hard cardboard box, which offers a look into the pack through its small front window. A smart box design, as modelers can see the contents of the set and its quality without opening the box.
The box contains a zip-lock bag with a single resin piece.
The resin piece looks really good. Upon closer inspection I noticed no defects in the cast, with all the details perfectly delivered in resin. The casting block was removed by Eureka, so all that is left to clean are two remaining carrier stubs. I would suggest a sharp blade and some sanding paper for the cleanup. Easy peasy.
The case depicts 472-M240B Machine Gun Case from Pelican. The case features large stacking ribs, two grip handles, lockable hasps, pressure relief valve and a humidity indicator. It is manufactured in four military colors: Black, Desert Tan, Grey and Olive Drab Green, and has dimensions of 59.40 x 19.30 x 12.80 in (150.9 x 49 x 32.5 cm).
The resin piece looks the part, and I identified all the features of the real case on its 1/35 scale counterpart. The details really are amazing, sharp and superbly delivered. The bottom of the crate has several indentations, so it can accommodate the stacking ribs of the second crate… meaning the 1/35 scale crates are stackable, like the real ones!
The dimensions of the resin part are 43,2 x 14 x 10 mm, which confirms the 1/35 piece is scaled well.
Conclusion:
Modern US Army PELICAN™ M240B Machine Gun Case (E-069) from Eureka XXL delivers a single 1/35 scale resin piece which depicts Pelican Mobile Armory case for storing and transporting M240B. The resin is perfectly cast, with all the case details well delivered in scale. Accurately sized, this 1/35 scale piece really is a miniature copy of the real Pelican case. Well done, Eureka!
