There are many different 1/35 scale resin Pelican cases in Eureka XXL catalogue. This review deals with the set depicting a Mobile Armory case designed to house M2 receiver and accessories.

Introduction:

Military cases - rugged transit containers and shipping cases - are used every day by the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Marines to protect and transport sensitive equipment and weapon systems. Pelican offers a large selection of military cases, airtight and waterproof, manufactured to comply with applicable MIL-SPEC requirements.

Eureka XXL provides a number of different Pelican cases as 1/35 scale resin accessories. Many of these have been previously reviewed on Armorama, while this review covers Eureka’s Modern US Army PELICAN™ M2-RCVR Machine Gun Case (E-074).

Review:

The set is packed in a small cardboard box, which contains a zip-lock bag with a single resin piece.

The piece is cast in grey resin with sharp details nicely delivered in scale. Also, there are no visible casting imperfections, no seam lines to clean of air bubbles to fill. This was the case with all the other Eureka sets I reviewed so far… the company obviously implemented a very strict quality control in their manufacturing process. The casting block was previously removed, so the only thing to clean are two thin casting stubs. This is easily done using a sharp blade and some fine grit sandpaper.

The piece represents 472-M2-RCVR Machine Gun Case from Pelican, a weather tight carrier and storage case designed specifically to fit M2 weapon receiver plus accessories. The case is manufactured in four military colors: Black, Desert Tan, Grey and Olive Drab Green, and has dimensions of 49.87 x 17.06 x 12.19 in (126.7 x 43.3 x 31 cm).

I found a photo of the real case on the internet and compared it to the 1/35 scale resin piece. I can report the complex shape of the case is reproduced well, with 9 stacking ribs on the lid (and the same number of corresponding indentations on the bottom of the case), and all the additional features like three grip handles, lockable hasps and pressure relief valve, clearly identifiable.

The dimensions of the piece are 36,2 x 12,45 x 8,9 mm, which makes it perfectly sized for 1/35 scale.

Conclusion:

Modern US Army PELICAN™ M2-RCVR Machine Gun Case (E-074) from Eureka XXL is another winner from the company. The set delivers accurately sized, perfectly cast and superbly detailed 1/35 scale depiction of a Pelican military case. Highly recommended.
