Here we take a look at whats now on offer in the re-released British Armoured Car Crew from MiniArt in 1/35th scale.

Review

This offering from MiniArt is an old set with a new twist, and so is listed as a special edition. The figures are quite long in the tooth now, but the moulds look to be holding up very well with nice crisp mouldings, a good level of detail, natural stances and the clothing has a natural crease detail. The mouldings are free of flash and are good examples of MiniArt’s older figure releases. The figure set itself appears to no longer be available, as I cannot find them on the MiniArt website. 3 additional sprues have been included with this release, 1 consists for the most part of Webley pistols and Colt .45s. There is also a SMLE P3 which is a pleasant inclusion. The pistols are shown both on their own and holstered. The second additional sprue provides tank helmets, goggles and another 5 Webley pistols, 3 holstered and 2 out. The final sprue is a much larger offering with ammunition pouches and backpacks, 3 styles of helmets - the standard rimmed helmet of the period, the later helmet with less of a rim and scrim netting attached  and one of the later helmets with no adornments. 4 Pick elf’s - 3 of these are shown in their canvas holders the fourth you get an empty canvas with a pick elf assembled. 4 water bottles of the period, 3 in their attachments for adding to the webbing and 1 free of its webbing, 3 Mills grenades and finally 2 styles of bayonets covering both in and out of their scabbards, and I believe that this mix provides some good options for display.

Conclusion

With these figures being an older release, I am rather pleased at how well everything is holding up, looks to go together well, and the cleanliness of the mouldings. The additional parts have been taken from other previous releases, but bringing them together with this figure set does provide the modeller with a number of options when it comes to how they wish to display the finished item. If it came to critiquing this release I will restrict myself to the fact that the goggles have not been moulded in clear plastic, but  so there is still a lot to recommend this offering than not
