Review

As per the description, this is a concise guide to Allied tanks from D-Day to the breakout from Normandy, with the emphasis on concise. At 48 pages total, including colour plates, images, and data tables - there are several throughout the book, there is not a lot left over to offer a detailed guide on Allied tanks given the size of the subject title. And that would be my only criticism of this book, it tries to cover too much in a small space and does itself a dis-service in doing so.

Volumes have been written on this very subject, and to cover it in 48 pages, you're almost looking at bullet-points only. Steven J ZALOGA pulls it off rather well with succinct explanations given for the various headings in the contents, there is definitely no getting bogged down in detail here. The text is well supported by Felipe RODRIGUEZ's excellent colour plates, which are well worth getting the book for. There are several examples below, with a sample of the explanations that accompany each. I did not realise that the US Army also utilised the Sherman Crab flail tank. Now there is a good subject for a model!

There are loads of images throughout the book showing the various tanks used, with a few in colour, which are useful references and inspiration for modelling.

Easily recommended, albeit a brief read.
