In Panzer Tracts No.3-3: Panzerkampfwagen III Ausf.J, L, M & N, Thomas Jentz and Hilary Doyle document the development and production of the final four versions of Panzerkampfwagen III.
The team spent hundreds of hours travelling the world and accurately measuring surviving Panzerkampfwagen III; they then used a CAD program to draw at full 1:1 scale and printed at 1:35 or 1:10 scale to produce these as-built drawings within the tolerance allowed to the original assembly firms. There are 1:35 scale CAD drawings for three Ausf.J, four Ausf.L, one Ausf.M and four Ausf.N. Additionally, the various versions of the basic hull and turret are shown. No less than 12 pages of 1:10 scale CAD drawings show specific components, tools and holders.
The text covers the evolution of the Ausf.J – N and their various modifications. Production statistics and allocations of chassis numbers to assembly plants help to identify vehicles in the field.
