ICM have released their next Humvee in the form of a M1025A2 Hummer Armament Carrier in 1/48th scale

M1025A2 Hummer Armament Carrier

This ICM offering of an M1025A2 Hummer armament carrier is 1/35th scale, which could be a timely release for me, at least. We have not had a new Hummer release for some time since the last ICM offering, in my belief, and previously these kits have ranged from the simplistic, such as Tamiya and Italeri to the extremely detailed kits from Bronco coming to the fore in my opinion. The Bronco offerings were not the easiest build.

ICM's release has a single-part chassis to build from. It provides reasonable detail for all the oily bits, with the inability to turn the front wheels being my only gripe. The wheels have good detail, and the tyre tread is acceptable. The negative here for some is the tyres being in vinyl rubber, which does not appeal to a good number of members.

In the interior of the Humvee, I appreciate the placement of items such as the ammunition boxes and dashboard detail, but I think the seats are a bit simplistic - unless someone in the know can confirm this is correct for this variant. No personal weapons are included inside the vehicle, as no figures are provided, but I still would have liked to have seen them in there.

The offensive/defensive firepower comes from a 50cal machine gun mounted on the roof, but without the protective armour usually seen these days. Somebody tackling this model on could complete it in a week of evenings without any trouble; however, for the detailer, there is plenty to keep them busy. The finishing options are:

Humvee M1025A2 Armament Carrier, 503rd Military Police Battalion, 16rg Military Police Brigade (Airborne), Fort Bragg, 2006

Humvee M1025A2 Armament Carrier, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Autumn 2007
