The Panhard 178 armored car served both prewar, during WW2 and then postwar in a variety of posts both in metropolitan France and overseas. I have chosen "Fontenoy," which took part in Operation Karamako in Cambodia, what was then French Indochina in June of 1952. Although the kit includes a cover for the spare tire, period photos show few Panhards with the cover. It also allows for dust to accumulate in the wheel, which improved the weathering.
Special Armour sells the ICM Panhard 178B with additional features such as resin parts. I also added the CMK resin wheels for greater detail than the rubber wheels supplied with the kit. I also scratch-built some wiring for radio mast and the connection to the mid-mounted radio set. I might go back and add brake lines, though I don't have a walkaround showing their placement.
For the painting, I used Mr. Paint "French armor green" and a variety of powders.
Overall, the kit is excellent and even includes a clear resin headlamp cover that simply blows away any styrene lens I have ever seen.
