September 12th sees the release of Hero City, the definitive history of the final year of the siege of Leningrad. This title follows on from the first volume, To Besiege a City which focused on the first year of the siege and its legacy.

The culmination of years of research by Eastern Front expert Prit Buttar,  expertly charting the tactical and strategic successes and failures on both sides until the final Soviet victory in 1944. A victory not only for the city of Leningrad, but indeed, for the whole of the USSR, its echoes continue to define both Russia and its politics today.
