The ZiS-42 was a Soviet half-track truck developed on the basis of the ZiS-5 model. During World War II, it was used not only as a transport vehicle but also as a platform for improvised self-propelled guns.
One such solution involved mounting a 57-mm ZiS-2 anti-tank gun on the cargo bed, creating a light, fast, and mobile tank destroyer.
Vehicle Specifications
- Chassis: ZiS-42 (half-track, improved off-road traction)

- The floor was reinforced and anchor points were added,
- Side shields made of planks or sheet metal were installed,
- The gun was allowed to rotate over a wide range,
- The crew operated the gun while standing on the truck bed or on lowered steps.
