The Somua MCG was a half-track artillery tractor used by the French Army in the period leading up to and during the 1940 campaign. Its design was derived from a series of vehicles developed by Somua for the transport of guns, ammunition, and artillery support personnel.

The vehicle was characterized by:

• a half-track system, ensuring good off-road mobility,
• a Somua gasoline engine, which offered decent reliability by 1930s standards,
• the ability to tow heavier artillery systems, such as 75 mm and 105 mm guns and certain howitzers.

In 1940, the Somua MCG was one of the French Army’s primary artillery tractors. It was distinguished by its robust construction and relatively good traction, though its numbers were insufficient to fully meet the army’s needs during the campaign against Germany. After France’s surrender, some of the vehicles were seized by the Wehrmacht and repurposed as auxiliary tractors.

The Combo kit includes a 3D-printed tractor from KM Model and a howitzer from Das Werk (DW35023), enhanced with 3D resin wheels from KM Model.
