Three new titles on Vietnam-era gun trucks have been added to David Doyle Books catalog.

THE HARD RIDE - VIETNAM GUN TRUCKS

This book, written by James Lyles, a former Vietnam gun truck commander, is an authoritative reference on a number of special hybrid vehicles called Vietnam gun trucks and the extraordinary crews who manned them. During their 5 year history from late 1967 thru late 1972, Vietnam gun trucks were without a doubt the most important wheeled vehicles to see duty in Vietnam. They were mainly used for convoy security and installation perimeter defense, but were also used in other roles. It was originally thought that only 150 of these vehicles existed but the book now includes a list of over 350 gun truck names and rare photos of nearly 300 different gun trucks.

Volume I includes gun trucks and their swashbuckling crews with 80 pages of mostly color photos of regular 2-1/2 ton and 5-ton gun trucks, eyewitness accounts, humorous gun truck related short stories, full sized gun truck scale models. 2002, new copy, paper covers, 8 1/2 x 11, glossy page stock, 80 pages, will illustrated in B& W and color.

THE HARD RIDE - VIETNAM GUN TRUCKS PART 2

This second volume contains 98 pages,  hundreds of color pictures, fantastic stories from real Gun Truck Veterans, and an authoritative compiled lists of truck names and truck crews. The Author, James Lyles wanted this part of the book to be in the first edition and is proud to finally bring this out for the Vietnam Veterans. Current updates and corrections were made in early 2011 to bring this to print for both the veterans and gun truck enthusiasts.

GUN TRUCKS IN VIETNAM - HAVE GUNS - WILL TRAVEL IN COLOR

The third of James Lyles’ authoritative works about the development and use of gun trucks in Vietnam, and the men who drove, crewed and maintained them.

This book, written by James Lyles,  a NCO with 4 tours of duty and first hand experience in convoy operations and a former Vietnam Gun Truck Commander, is an authoritative reference on a number of special hybrid vehicles called Vietnam gun trucks and the extraordinary crews who manned them.

During their 5 year history from late 1967 thru late 1972, Vietnam gun trucks were without a doubt the most important wheeled vehicles to see duty in Vietnam. They were mainly used for convoy security and installation perimeter defense, but were also used in other roles. It was originally thought that only 150 of these vehicles existed but this book now includes a list of 563 gun truck names and over 200 rare, previously unpublished photos of gin trucks, patches, veterans, etc.  Most of them in color.

Unusual gun trucks such as wooden armor gun trucks, M37's, Jeeps, Quad 50's and other special constructed trucks are illustrated in this book as well as Deuces and 5-Tons.

James Lyles collected a fresh batch of veteran stories for this book so there is no repetition and no disappointment. This book is the real deal! The pictures were supplied by the veterans who manned the gun trucks from 1967 to 1972. It doesn't get anymore real than this. Whether you are reading this book for personal memories, or history, or studying the pictures to build a model, this is the real deal that you shouldn't miss, and you won't be able to put down.
