This offering from AK Interactive, covering the event of April 26th 1986 to the present in model form, is an interesting subject. The recent drama titled “Chernobyl” awakened a lot of interest in the events that occurred at that time, and the power of the atom when things go wrong. In this book, we are presented with 8 dioramas showing various aspects of the Chernobyl incident, and also replicating vehicles that have been left out to rot ever since the event. I am pleased to see that both ground and air vehicles have been covered in this book.

The modellers that have produced these dioramas have done a very good job of providing you with an insight, into how they have managed to achieve these works of art. I will say that for me Alex Friedrich gets the gold medal, not because of what he has represented, but how he has presented it to the viewer, by placing it inside an old TV, giving the impression of an image rather than a model.

As mentioned previously, the text has been provided in Spanish and English. With the presentation style that English is provided first, followed by Spanish and so as you go through it goes English, Spanish, English etc. I thought this method would by distracting, However, I was not correct in that, and I found no issued in reading through this title. The photography throughout is first class.

Conclusion

This book covers an interesting subject, and the eight people providing the content, have tackled the subject in many different ways. These approaches gave me a much better appreciation of just how differently modellers can approach a subject. With the result that the modeller can have their eyes opened, both in terms of what they produce, and for me how it is presented. This is a very pleasing  modelling title from AK Interactive.
