This is the story of a scratch built 1:35 Grille L/16 MORSER BÄR (BEAR) that was build from two different kits, scratch built plastic, and concept of true paper panzer before Trumpeter came out with the recent 1/35 scale Bear model.

1:35 GRILLE L/16 MORSER BÄR (BEAR) Scratch Built

When researching SPG's one that's not spoke about much is the grand father of the paper panzer SPG's and that is the Grille L/16 MORSER BÄR (BEAR). Understanding this was basically going to take two or three kits to make was not a small task and my first attempt at scratch building an engine deck along with many others.

The base kit was from Kraut kits and I did not like the detail, so why not scratch build it! Also why not start another project with the two others on the bench.

One of the first steps was to cutout out the upper super structure and start building my own.

This was the finished result with the engine deck from the Jagdtiger that was a layout reference from other Grille SPG's.
