In addition to the closed boxes with reference GM-35-091 (reviewed here), Master also offers 1/35 open boxes.
In this case, there are again six boxes made of traditional resin, with their lids and ammunition belts for two of them printed in 3D. One of the ammunition belts hangs outside the box while the other is stored inside in full. The other four boxes have to be built empty.
Decals are also included for all boxes.
The main body of the boxes is made of resin, coming in a row of three with a casting block in the base. They can be cut with a saw like any other resin part, just being careful to make a straight cut (the base is not very thick).
The quality is very good, there are no deformations or bubbles despite the thin walls.
Master wisely provides a solid piece of resin to keep inside the boxes while cutting the base, so that you can handle them and keep these box walls protected.
The 3D lids are also very thin but easier to remove from the supports. The ammunition belts are more delicate and require care to ensure they are not damaged while cutting the trees. All of them look very good and detailed, without visible defects or banding.
Assembling is as simple as putting the two pieces of belts inside one box each, and attaching all lids. The fit of all parts is good and the process is quite straightforward and quick.
Conclusion
A nice addition to the M1919 machine gun, easy to build and with a high quality of both the resin and 3D printed parts for excellent detail.
