Introduction:
The series of military medical chests was introduced in 1942 as a means by which to transport large unit medical supplies and to enable medical units to easily redeploy. Each chest was designated using a number, and each holding supplies for a very specialized role.
Mobile Medical from Pelican are a range of watertight, airtight and impact-resistant cases with all the customizable inserts and options to organize and protect lifesaving medical gear.
Review:
This review covers one of the military medical chests from Pelican in the form of 1/35 scale resin piece produced by Eureka XXL: Modern US Army PELICAN™ MEDCHEST4 Mobile Medical™ (E-70).
The set is packed in a hard cardboard box. The box features a small aperture on the front, which ensures the pieces of the set (and their quality) can be inspected without opening the box.
Inside the box is a zip-lock bag with a single resin piece.
The piece is cast in grey resin. I noticed no casting defects, no seam lines or air bubbles, while the details are sharp and perfectly defined. The casting block has obviously been previously removed, with only two short attachment stubs to clean. A sharp modeling knife, some fine grit sandpaper and basic resin-working skills are enough to get the job done.
The piece represents MEDCHEST4 from Pelikan, a chest of rotationally molded shell to keep all the medical supplies dry, dust free, secure and organized.
MEDCHEST4 features large stacking ribs, grip handles, edge casters, large spring-loaded catches, automatic pressure relief valve, ID plate, etc. The chest dimensions are 32.75 x 20.87 x 14.81 in (83.2 x 53 x 37.6 cm).
The 1/35 scale piece from Eureka looks really good and, as far as I can tell, depicts MEDCHEST4 perfectly. I found all the aforementioned features of the real chest on its resin counterpart, well defined and superbly delivered in scale.
With the dimensions of 23,7 x 15,1 x 10,8 mm, the 1/35 scale piece is accurately sized.
Conclusion:
Modern US Army PELICAN™ MEDCHEST4 Mobile Medical™ (E-70) from Eureka XXL delivers a single 1/35 scale resin piece depicting one of Pelican’s MEDCHESTs. The cast is fantastic, the details superbly delivered and, as far as I can tell, perfectly represent the real chest in scale.
Altogether, I would say this is another winner from Eureka XXL. Highly recommended.
