The Miracle on the Marne was a battle that took place during the first year of World War 1 and ICM has released a set of figures in 1/35th scale covering this battle before the mud and the blood of trench warfare.

ICM has a habit of selecting items from their extensive catalogue and reissuing them as standalone releases, and Miracle on the Marne is a perfect example of this approach.

The Battle of the Marne took place during the early stages of the First World War and is often regarded as the first major turning point in the conflict. Fighting in the region continued throughout the war, but this particular battle—fought from 5 to 12 September 1914—stands out for its scale and significance.

During the engagement, German forces were reportedly pushed back around 45 miles, an extraordinary distance when you consider that later in the war, territorial gains were typically measured in mere yards or even feet. It’s difficult to imagine such a large advance or retreat taking place once trench warfare became entrenched on the Western Front.

This release from ICM Provides 5 the sets consisting of two German two British and one early war French figure set. an examination of the parts that make up the figures reveals the moulding to of a  good quality with no issues as regards uniform detail. A big plus with these figures is that you also get a very large set of weapons one of each for the three countries covered. The detail of the weapons and equipment is of a good standard and could only really be improved via the addition or application of rifle slings.

Two of the releases in this offering are a German MG crew and British MG crew they are equipped with the Maxim gun and the Vickers heavy machine gun respectively. The heavy machine gun needs items such as the waterline from the water cooled sleeve and also you need to adjust the belt to it a more natural hang, the same to some extent is true of the German maxim however I have no complaints and I am sure it is within the ability of all modellers to add the needed details.

The hand and facial details of the figures are up to standard and should not need to be replaced although you may need to do some small clean up around the fingers to give them a better appearance.

All told this is an excellent offering from ICM that should please all fans of figures as you get a large number of figures with a decent amount of weaponry and equipment when these are accurately displayed in a setting. The only further addition I would make to this offering is to have included decals for the figures such as rank and also on the helmets where the units’ identities would be seen.
