Review
MiniArt has released an interesting new product for those modellers showing an engineering settings or a building of the like in a diorama. This offering arrives in one of MiniArt’s end opening cartons and is one of the box designs that I wish was consigned to history, as its level of protection offered is very poor in my opinion. An examination of the contents, shows that the 2 sprues are very cleanly moulded with no flash showing in this example and the moulding detail being of a very high standard. The gates connecting parts to the sprue are off an acceptable size. But the typical warning is in effect, that the finer parts could easily be broken during removal or clean up.
The 2 milling machine provided are on identical sprues, but look very different from each other depending on how you will assemble them. The guard shown around one of the machines and that I believe is more of a collector for metal shavings give the milling machine a very different look. The machine themselves have a power supply shown, with all of the operating handles you would expect to find, including gear handles to set the speed of the milling head. The milling machine beds have excellent detail replicated, there are also 4 clamps that can be set as desired and I will be interested to see what modellers lock onto these machines as they start to be used in dioramas.
Conclusion
This release from MiniArt in 1/35th scale of 2 milling machines has no obvious weaknesses' that I can pick out. Beyond the modeller having the skills to avoid damage when removing from sprues. If I was to critique the release, its that it would have been nice to have a figure operating at least one of the machines, but again I cannot critique what is in the box.
