A review of Master Model barrels for 1/35 kits of the Tiger I

Master models is a Polish company specialised in high quality gun barrels, antennas and probes, both for aviation and armoured vehicles.

Most of their catalogue is small calibre, however this year they have add to their range some main guns like the one for the M10 or the ones in this revision, for the Tiger I Kw. K 36 gun.

They offer two variants, with the early muzzle brake and with the late muzzle brake. The barrel is the same, the only difference is the muzzle brake. The set includes the turned aluminium barrel, a brass ring and the 3D printed muzzle brake.

The resin muzzle brake comes separately In the bag to avoid damage. All parts come clean and ready to use. Being 3d Printed, the muzzle brake has no imperfections, print bands or support leftovers. The detail is very good, with the screw marks on both the muzzle brake and barrel ring.

The barrel is completely smooth as well, and has two tiny marks to show how far it should go into the gun sleeve, as shown on the small instruction sheet included. It also shows the correct position of the muzzle brake, as well as the warning that there is a small gap between the barrel and the jacket, which is normal. There is a picture of a real barrel for reference.

The fit of both the brass ring and the muzzle brake to the tube are correct with no problem although you will need glue to hold it in place.

Measured against the drawings on Achtung Panzer nº 6, they are a perfect match.

Conclusion

A straightforward replacement for Tiger I plastic barrels. The detail is excellent, size and shape are correct and there are no parts to cut, clean or fold. Cannot be easier.
