Review of Master .50cal M2 open ammunition boxes.

Master offers a set of 6 boxes of ammunition for the .50cal Browning M2 under their reference GM-35-067. They can be used alone or together with their excellent M2HB machine guns. The presentation is in a blister pack with foam to protect the parts, which come in three blocks. A decal sheet for the boxes is also included.

The first two blocks are traditional resin casting, with the boxes themselves and the lids, while the third is 3D printed and comes with the ammunition and the box handles (of which there are two spares in case any is  damaged or lost).

The ammunition consists of a belt that fills one of the boxes and another belt overhanging from the edge of the box. The remaining four boxes are assembled open and empty.

Master also offers sets of closed boxes (reference GM-35-068) and belt links and empty shells (reference GM-35-066).

The boxes are very thin, with 0.3mm thick walls, and as usual with resin parts, are attached to a cast block at the base.

The resin parts have no imperfections, no warping and no bubbles. Similarly, the 3D printed parts have no banding or defects.

Master has wisely included a solid block of resin that can be inserted into the boxes when cutting the casting block to prevent it from breaking.

The lids are much easier to remove as the joint is very thin.

As for the 3D printed parts, the resin is slightly flexible so despite the handles are very thin, all supports can be cut easily with a sharp blade.

Assembly is a simple matter of placing the ammunition in two of the boxes, and adding the lids and handles to all of them.

Conclusion

A nice set of 6 boxes of .50cal ammunition, mixing traditional resin with 3D prints. The detail on the belts is excellent. They will be a great addition to a diorama or a suitable vehicle.
