MiniArt has released their own scene for a Kleine Feldkuche Hf.`4 with Crew in 1/35th scale.

Review

This offering from MiniArt is provided in a cardboard tray with a card lid. Inside the parts are packed in a single plastic bag including a small photo etched fret. The moulding is of a high quality being clean and with easy access for removal, but you do as always need to take care when removing the more fragile parts.

The figures are a great mix in my opinion due to each figure performing a realistic task. The four figures provided consists of two cooks, a wood cutter and a butcher in the making. The wood cutter is wearing what I describe as work fatigues, he is cutting wood for fuel to be used in the field kitchen. I like that the pose is one of function physically in the act of swinging the axe. The soldier in the process of taking a goose for its last rights is also wearing fatigues. While the stance is not in action he is carrying the goose to an unidentified location of execution. Moving to the cooks and I am pleased there is nothing controversial about the clothing being fatieges as expected along with white jackets and one wearing a full length apron. Both figures are wearing crap hats and are engaged in cooking stances. One is stirring the main cooking vessel while the other is tasting his efforts on the hot plate.

The field cooker meets my expectations with regards to external detail. The main cooking vessel inside the cooker has been provided and would have contained a goulash/stew most likely. However the rest of the internal detail would appear to be missing which is a shame considering the effort that MiniArt has put into the rest of the offering. With that said the heater or log burner does have the ash pits open. This lack of detail internally by no means detracts from the set as a whole, but it does reduce your options when it comes to display. Ancillary items provided with this release are minimal which is a weakness in my book that MiniArt could have easily overcome with products they have. You do get some cooking vessels and instruments which is good to see and i particularly like the addition of the vessels used to transport hot food to troops fighting at the front.

This combination from MiniArt is a great set but needs other additions to complete the scene. The overall quality is very good and the figures have great stances for an active scene. I do expect in future to see MiniArt bring more of their offerings in order to complete a setting for the modeller.
