Apart from colors and primers, Kaleido Colors (which is part of the airbrush manufacturer Gaahleri group) also offers varnishes. And they are available in the three standard finishes: matt, satin and gloss. 

Each bottle comes in an elegant cardboard box with an inner reinforcement box, containing a 210 ml plastic bottle. The bottles are sealed with an aluminium foil lid to ensure optimal preservation. They also include a metal ball to make shaking easier. 

The varnishes are acrylic and come ready to use, although they can be thinned with the brand’s thinner if desired. They are specially designed for use with an airbrush. 

Application is simple and hassle-free; I did not experience any clog in the airbrush. Applying them with the airbrush produces only a light smell. The finish is fine and not too exaggerated: the gloss is not mirror-like and the matt is not ultra-matt.

Durability. 

Varnishes are often used as a base for applying effects, so it is important that they are durable.

Mechanically, Kaleido varnishes present no problems. They withstand being scratched with a fingernail and vigorous rubbing with a finger. Tamiya masking tape adheres to and peels off without leaving any marks whatsoever.

Chemically, they are unaffected by water, enamel thinner or Mr. Color decal setter.

As far as I have been able to test, they are safe for sealing the base paint .

Conclusion

A reliable set of varnishes, easy to apply and to clean from the airbrush.
