Hungarian MAZ-537 tank trailer with from Takom with T-72M from Revell in 1/72 scale

Hello modeling friends,

I have been collecting Hungarian-themed model kits for a long time. I have built several of these vehicles over the last few years. My biggest Hungarian project so far (lasted about 2 months) is the MAZ-537 tank transporter with the T-72M tank on it.

The Takom MAZ-537 tractor and the trailer kit is very nice and was fun to build. I just replaced the handrails with copper wire and made the towing cables myself.

Unfortunately, the Russian aftermarket sets are hardly available these days, so I almost have to do without the resin wheels, but I did get a complete set of wheels from Armada Hobby (András, thanks for the help). So I got the resin wheels. Although the set's rubber tires are nice, the sturdy resin wheels look better.

Unfortunately the finished model doesn't show the most spectacular improvements made to the trailer, but some photos were taken of the planks I made from balsa wood.

The T-72M is a Revell kit for which I used Hauler's photo-etched parts and some homemade tuning on the turret. I also replaced the tow ropes with homemade ones. I had a set of rollers from the previously built Modelcollect set that I thought were nicer than the Revell ones, so I swapped those out as well.

The whole model is painted with acrylics, pinwashed with enamel paints. For the shades I used Ammo Shader. The fading and highlightind is made with oilpaints. For the streaking and dirt effects I used (aquqrell) weathering pencils

The base is a simple “square concrete” that I made from cardboard and airbrushed with 50 shades of grey.

Thank you for your attention and happy modeling!
