A208 Ferret Wheel Set Trakgrip Style A Worn

This set is designed to enhance the Airfix Ferret kit or any of the ‘Small wheeled’ Ferret from Accurate Armour prior to 2024. (Kits K118 to K122 and K126)

Contained in the set are 4 realistically ‘bulged’ Dunlop Trakgrip Style A, 9.00” x 16” tyres fitted to 16” wheels of the ‘split rim’ type plus a spare wheel. We have included the spare wheel mounting which doubles as a storage box with a twist on lid protruding through the centre. This has a removeable cap and has the 4 studs visible should you wish to display the model with the spare wheel removed.

The tyre sidewall has all the relevant tyre information to scale and has a custom designed sprue to avoid bubbles and loss of detail. The bulging of the tyres is subtle to reflect that these are ‘Run Flat’ tyres and as such do not deflect greatly even under the weight of one ton per tyre as in the Ferret application.

Style A is available as a normal version (A207), as well as a worn version (A208) with a proportion of tyre tread worn away and evidence of scuffing and damage.

Contained in the set are 4 realistically ‘bulged’ Goodyear Super Sand Flotation, 9.00” x 16” tyres fitted to 16” wheels of the ‘split rim’ type plus a spare wheel. We have included the spare wheel mounting which doubles as a storage box with a twist on lid protruding through the centre. This has a removeable cap and has the 4 studs visible should you wish to display the model with the spare wheel removed.

This pattern of tyre was used in Lebanon in 1982 and possibly other conflicts and peace keeping operations in desert conditions. It is not to be confused with the Aircraft balloon tyres fitted to Ferrets in Aden where the wings and stowage boxes were removed because of the oversized fitment.
