Here we take a look at one of MiniArt's previously released figure sets as a special offering of 35477 US Officers in 1/35th scale.

Review

This release from MiniArt arrives in an end opening carton, with a sheet showing the contents loose inside along with some black and white maps for you to cut out. An examination of the mouldings reveals no moulding complaints that I can observe. The moulded parts are clean and free of moulding seams, as I believe that this is an older set of figures that has been re-released. There are 5 figures within the set, with 2 examining a map, 1 on a walkie talkie and the remaining 2 are basically not involved in any specific task.

The uniform being worn is a mix of standard infantry clothing using the waist length jacket, typical canvas trousers, boots with putties. One is dressed for a warmer climate, such as a European summer. The male using the radio I would class as wearing wet weather gear. The other 3 figures I would suggest are 2 armoured figures with higher rank officer. Only one of the figures is shown with a weapon, this is a rifle slung over his shoulder. There are side arms evident in 2 other cases. Hand and facial detail are acceptable.

I believe the supporting sprues are the parts that make this a special edition, and while these are nicely detailed improvements most of them are not suitable for this figure set. Items such as entrenchment tools, bayonets both in and outs of their scabbards just do not really fit. The small back packs are also unlikely to be seen being used by this group of figures. The most useful items provided are water canteens, with 2 provided out of their canvas holders. There are also 5 hand grenades, which would only really look right on one of the figures at a push.

Conclusion

The figures provided in this release are nice in all respects, from natural stances to range of clothing setting to the details on the clothing. Hand and facial detail are of a pleasing standard, and so I have no qualms in this regard. The items provided on the extra sprues are nicely detailed, but are not really suitable for this release. This offering can be considered as an item for the spares box that will prove useful, and so the result is a Marmite release as regards the set as a whole.
