Review
This title printed by Plastic Invasion is presented in 5 sections:
German Army Mechanics - Unknown fates of the war
Lecter PersenKraftWagen VW 82
VW 82 Walkaround
Gib Mir Den Schraubencieher Klaus
The Field Workshop Diorama by Kreangkrai Paojinda
The book begins with a background on the role of the field repair teams, which were attached to each unit of the German army. You then move on to a short background of the Kubelwagen 82 and this includes a walk around of a current surviving vehicle with extremely helpful detailed close-ups where helpful. You are then presented with details on the men that worked on the vehicles and some of the tools that they used. The text covering all of these areas and including photographs which are both period and present day provisions make for one stop reference.
The section covering the diorama created takes up half of the title 120 pages that complete it. The models and consumables used during the construction of this diorama are presented in a clear fashion, and also looks at aspect of the Kubelwagen, the equipment utilised and the layout of the diorama with the figures. Painting of the figures is covered, but is a very compacted format due to the constraints of the book title, and if covered in the same way as another of their titles I have looked at I feel this title would have been in excess of 200 pages. The Kubelwagen is also covered with regards to construction and painting, again this has been constrained by space within the title. The painting of the tools was a particularly pleasing section, as I found it informative.
The diorama base itself and the composition of the finished article is again well presented, but would have benefitted from a less confined space. I say this because despite learning bits and bobs from this, it could have taught me a lot more and so increased its value to the modeller. With that said, the amount of information presented within the title is excellent, with well constructed imagery and clearly written text that I believe the modeller will find particularly useful in their modelling generally. A one stop reference for modellers interested in tackling dioramas with something I believe for everyone.
