1982—1985: Israeli Invasion to Hijacking
The middle years of the conflict began with Israel's invasion of Lebanon and ended with the hijacking of a TWA flight to Beirut by Hezbollah militants. The period also included the killing of 241 U.S. Marines in their Beirut barracks by a suicide bomber.
