On Track 2016

The sixth On Track Military Modelling Show took place in its usual seaside home on 27 February 2016.

A cold but bright, spring like day in Folkestone yet again provided some decent light into the competition room and throughout the Leas Cliff Hall (seen above, from along the Leas).

The Best in Show was Rob Henden’s Captain Mainwaring bust, underlining yet again how, despite the name and principle theme of the show, subjects other than military vehicles are an integral part of the competition. Indeed this is the fourth Best in Show win out of six not to be an AFV.

It’s good to be able to report that the show seemed to this visitor to be a success, with an apparently healthy turn-out of entries in the competition, particularly the Juniors which seemed to have expanded both in terms of numbers and the sheer size of some of the models. The hall itself also seemed to be pretty much full of traders, and I heard one saying that he had a very busy day of sales.

Apologies for the purple tint on a few of the photos, the result of a purple lighting strip in part of the competition room. I couldn’t resist including a photo of a Bronze medal winning entry from 2011 – this year it managed a Silver!
