18pdr Mk 4 on Mk 3 Carriage

  • move
The 18pdr Mk 4 artillery gun can trace its lineage to the 18pdr of World War 1 and mounted on the Mk 3 or Mk 4 Carriage saw service in the early part of World War 2, a large number of these guns were lost with the BEF at the start of World War Two. The 18pdr Mk4 on Mk3 Carriage lead to the famous QF 25pdr which served with the British armed forces for many years.

Great info Darren, where was this ?? I knew there were at least a couple of survivors, some were in service with the Irish Army. I have a few photos of captured BEF equipment showing this Mk though the box trail version was the more predominant. Great to see this historic gun preserved.....what news on the 6" howitzer ????? George.

I have not seen the 6inch gun since it went away for TLC that it was in great need of. This gun belongs to one of the Garrison members and lives up North I believe. the pictures were taken after it was towed to not so sunny Wiltshire for a day out.
