It was a great campaign that brought back memories of childhood modelling. And I must say, there are some very talented modellers at the smaller scale. I would like to personally thank all who joined the campaign and shared their builds. And here is looking forward to a Matchbox III campaign in the future. Kevin

Kevin Brant, having sneaked envious glances over the fence at an Aeroscale Matchbox campaign, had decided that the time was right for another armoured Matchbox Campaign. So it was that on 1st September 2012, he and twenty nine cohorts peered out as dawn broke over the polystyrene battlefield, armed with a variety of two-toned vintage Matchbox kits and monotone Revell re-releases. Some failed to make it to the start line, and many were the casualties that fell by the wayside, so that by 28th February of the following year, only 17 were able to retire from the field as veterans and thus receive the campaign medal:

Operational Overview:

Remember opening that first Matchbox armor kit, small armored vehicle to build and the "nifty" little molded diorama to display it on. Matchbox armor kits brings back childhood modeling to me, and I would like to relive it a little. So this campaign is designed to have a few memories and a little fun. This is a Matchbox armor only campaign.

The Rules and Regs
  • No aftermarket, strictly OOB
  • Exception to rule above would be allowing builder to dress up diorama base.
  • Kit must use kit diorama base, photo of AFV on base must be submitted.
  • Kit may start off partially built but a picture of the start point must be submitted before further work is done.
  • Most important: have fun, remember what it was like to build these as kids.

Vowed then to complete the 30 year old stash, and have made some progress. Hobby goes hand in hand with BBC Radio 3...

Great feature Matthew, one correction though...I built the M-19 Tank Transporter....not the jeep/chevy. Again Brilliant Group build. Bill.

Great job on the resurrection of this campaign, Kevin, and excellent and effective Feature of it for posterity. Great builds by everyone that participated and it was nice to see builds that were missed in the first incarntation appear in it. I lament that I was unable to participate but my interest never waned and I checked the campaign pages regularly. Once again, great job everyone! Cheers, Jan

Great campaign. A cool trip down memory lane. Interesting to see that very cool models can be made from kits 30-40 years old. Looking forward to another Matchbox campaign

A Fantastic fun campaign that I will proud to tell my grandchildren about, how we , a small band of brothers fought against flash ridden parts joined to massive sprues ,battled flimsy decals and at time instructions that made no sense. We my friends are the Victors
