I'll give 10-12 years and the M1 will be retired....70 tons. I believe only 2 will fit on a C-5 to be moved rapidly..........

it's actually 63 tons and 2 will fit on a C-5, but it can only take off with one on board. The M-60 series tank was used for nearly 35+ years, the M1 in one shape or another will be strolling along for about as long (total).

Jim picked it.

So, is there any specific reason he picked a crazed-looking guy holding a bazooka or whatever it is?
Did you post any reference pics of Humvees? That's yet another thing I plan to build a model of.

Rob,
Looked at the Bradley interior pics. Looked liek the didn't have the feeder installed for the chain-gun. Was that the case? We refer to the crawl space between the turret and the hull as the Hell Hole for obvious reasons. At 6'3" and 220+ its a major undertaking for yours truly to get through to practice crew evac drills or to drag my driver out. I usually send my gunner since he's a lot smaller than I am. He gets him to the hole where I can grab him and then its jerk city for him, which he really doesn't enjoy much either. heh heh. Great pictures. I will see if I can get some from around here for you guys. We have M1A2's onsight, M3A2, M109A6 and the whole range of LMTV's, plus your standard and non standard Hummers. Going to the field next week for a month or so, so it will be awihle before I can get them here. I'll get some good field shots too..... "Q"

YM,
It's a bow silly! Bazooka....geeze.

It's a picture of Robin Hood, well a more Nordic inspired one really. I have always thought of Robin with dark hair. I will leave it to Rob to detail further.

Actually, if you look close enough at that M2A2, you will notice the engine and tranny aren't in it. (look at other pictures to see the FUP that came out of it). All my equipment except for the recovery vehicles are condition code "H" meaning they are non-reportable training aids that must be sent to depot for evaluation and re-coding before they sent back into the Army supply system (yes, even the brand spanking new stuff). They exist at my site for the sole purpose of being torn apart by students going through MOS reclassification. I believe that vehicle was being used for a 45K course (DS armament repairer) at the time. It also gets torn up by the old 45T course and is now being used to transition 63T to become 63M. We will get busy in the next few years with the 63A and 63M conversion as well as with the 63B/S/W and 63H/Y mergers.

The M88s, M936s, M578, M984E1 and LMTV 5t wrecker are used in the ASI "H8" recovery course we run in the summer months.

It's supposed to be Robin Hood shooting arrows at the bad guys. Yes, in the HMMWV album I sent in the pictures of the Hummer on top of the car. In the Rob's Motorpool album I have engine photos of a standard M998.
