Common point of modellers:

Very fast to buy a model. Much less to build it.

"Some modellers are born to stashes, others have one thrust upon them" - ancient quote, sometimes incorrectly modified to speak of greatness...

If you go to a LHS, you tend to pick one kit and walk out with it. That's no way to build a stash. It's when you become a regular show-goer and have a yearly schedule; and you fill your back seat with incredible bargain kits over the course of the day, that you can acquire a kit stash that will fill your basement with boxes, your wife with disdain, and your chest with pride.

That looks just like Bay Shore Hobbies on Long Island.....not kidding! Anyone who has been there will attest....

Rich

Seriously, Rich isn't kidding about Bay Shore Hobbies!

I've spent many hours there rummaging through the piles of Eduard PE or that Jenga-esque pile of Verlinden/Warriors figures.

It is said of buying books that we're purchasing the time to read them. The same could be said of models. I buy very few kits and must go through a process of justification.

And then sometimes the cosmos speaks to me. Twice I had the Trumpeter A-6A in my cart at Sprue Bros. with another $150 of seamless intakes, PE, etc. Twice my computer deleted the cookie or SB did something to empty my cart. So I have accepted the verdict there will be no Bill Cross-built A-6A Intruder in USMC markings on my shelves someday.

sad, maudlin music playing softly in back ground a video of a hobby table, neat, organized, unoccupied

Stashless. Kitless. How does a modeller survive on just one occasional kit? What happens when they finish building their one, lonely kit? Do they get bored? Do they complete the 'honey do list'? Do they talk to their wives and children? Do they go to the neighbors for game night?

A modeller should have a stash so he can keep on building to save themselves from (shudder) family time. This is a sad, sad tale that never should happen to a model builder and it is easily prevented.

Together you and I can help modellers in this sad condition. If we each donated one kit to a stashless modeller we can help him build his own stash. Keep him occupied before he asks his wife if there is any work that needs to be done around the house. Before he offers to help his children with their homework. Before he offers to take his family on a drive.

So won't you donate one kit to end stashlessness? One kit to save a family from "oh no dad is bored"? One kit to save a life from having a conversation not related to modelling with his loved ones?

Please help. Send your kit to:

Hey guys, I happen to be acquainted with this particular “stashless” modeler. He can get plenty of help if he needs it, but I think he’s got other things on his mind right now— so go easy.
