What is the difference between these and this:

In any case, it's great value for money getting not one of Dragon's "2 in 1" kits but two kits in one box!

Different truck chassis.

Additionally, different work body (and purpose). The ICM kits are radio trucks, and the IBG kit is a mobile telephone exchange.

I get that they're going for a theme, but with both of them being three-axle trucks with the same radio body, they're awfully close to being repetitive. It's a shame ICM doesn't have one chassis or the other as a radio mast vehicle (funkmastkraftwagen), which would have made a much more interesting counterpart.

Not to mention the fact that they don't have any interior for the truck bodies (no radio equipment, nothing but empty space) which again is a damn shame.

IBG did produce a resin interior for the Fernsprechbetriebskraftwagen, but it was enormously expensive, about £70 IIRC. I wonder if anyone bought one? Maybe ICM will follow the same plan for these, but I doubt it. To be honest the "Einheitsdiesel" moniker merely means "standard diesel", for which Krupp, Henschel, Mercedes and others supplied chassis and engines, to which standardised bodies were fitted, so there isn't much to choose between any of them. The Einheits plan wasn't a great success, many of it's vehicles were overcomplicated and it was succeeded by the "Schell Programme" which majored on buying suitable commercial vehicles. I'm not sure I like the look of the two piece split antenna on the sprues. Also, alas, no option for erected antenna.
Still might buy them though as I am a sucker for German WW2 trucks.

The Einheitsdiesel was a standardised design which all the mentioned companies produced. It wasn't a proprietary design of either of the manufacturers.
Their own designs were different.

Einheitsdiesel: 6x6 Independent suspension for each wheel, spiral springs, parts in the drive train were the same for all axles. Single wheels all around,wheelbase 3100 + 1100 mm

Henschel 33 D 1: 6x4 Rigid axles, leaf springs, twin wheels rear, wheelbase 3750 + 1100

Krupp L3H163: 6x4, rigid axles, leaf springs, wheelbase 3650 + 1100

The other manufacturers also had rigid axles, leaf springs and 6x4 drive

Wow! Talk about deals. And to think that I was going to buy one of the basic kits and build my own radio truck version! This one goes on to my "Must Have" list as of now!

I have one in my stash.

I LIKE the double vehicles as these things were often clumped in the field, so it makes for a nifty diorama. The only downer is I rarely see ICM or IBG kits in the States, always expensive shipping through eBay.
