Having contacted IBG via Messenger (this company is really fast and constructive in their answers) they wrote that the continuation of their Bedford series in 1/35 scale may be done with a QL C refueler. Even one with the large beams.
They also stated that they realize that the base is already aging so some rework can be expected.
Therefore this truck will most likely pop up at the beginning of 2020.
All together good news from Poland.
Personally I hope to see this bright blue and yellow version.....

One question to one of you: were these vehicles only used on UK airfields or did the aircraft refueler also go overseas?

This is excellent news. Can't wait for this one.

I believe the twin boom models were indeed postwar, for AVTUR rather than AVGAS.Tthe blue and yellow scheme was also postwar.

Hi Simon, sure?
This truck was, together with an Albion (?), part of the 1/76 scale Airfix refuelling set once.
And that box art showed a WW2 scene.
King&Country sells them also as WW2 trucks,

But then the Airfix box art showed a Panther in North Africa too. And a Universal Carrier towing a 6pdr and a Churchill VII on a 30t Scammell trailer.

It’s much easier to apply artistic licence when you have a blank canvas and a load of paints. I’m not sure box art counts as reliable reference😉

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your input, quite true!
In the mean time I was helped by a Dutch pilot, flying a Spitfire as a hobby.
He told me that these trucks were around as the english large bombers came into use for their night raids on Germany.
The large beams were added to create some ‚convenience‘ forthe refuelling crews.
So far what I know now. But maybe somebody can either confirm or tell better.
Ready to learn. Frenchy, any war time photos or film, maybe (merci en avance).
But whatever the outcome will be the QL C bowser will come into my collection, if only for its nice yellow/blue outfit.

As I see on Scalemates, it will be an early version, without booms.

The info I received from IBG via Messenger states that they intend to extend the earlier announced bowser with the beams!
They are reviewing the base of the Bedford since they consider it already as “aged”.
It shows that they belong to the top: listening to modellers and not using molds for decades. They might even pack it with an etch set.
So the IBG staff may have a nice new subject. Can’t wait to buy it. ( and hopefully they think about other types like the dromedar)
