I see a lot of lovin' for detail in Peter's work, so I fully agree with you, Bogi!

Superb superdetailing, Mr. Battle,

Sweet little Breda gun there Mike. The gun colour came out very nice in the end.

Thanks Guys. I held out for a kit of this for so long, and was disappointed with it when I got it all those years ago. I would have hoped an updated moulding would have been offered.

I am sceptical about some of the turret measurements, the square box like structure at the rear may be too wide and a little short and the turret a little short overall, but without measurements, I'll live with it.

Italeri gives you a circular hatch for the turret rear but the Saumur one and the two pics I have of the rear where you can see the turret, don't have it. IBG replicate that in their 1/72nd scale version, but also show the vehicle with desert sand shields it never had too....

Thanks for the confidence booster Gents.

I used a small piece of "packing" sponge and Tamiya's Dark Iron for the "chipping" along with a blue filter for grey equipment and a bit of an overall neutral wash followed by a light raw umber wash in the nooks and crannies.

I'm pretty pleased with the concrete base but I'm wondering about "beating up" the ammo cans. With the main color of an OD, what color would show under the OD on a beat-up can?

I hope you that you guys run a similar campaign to this next year as I finally managed to get a suitable kit for this build, so I'll save it for next year and hope for the best.

Well this was the second campaign in 2 years David, and still alot of interest, so I'd say an AA 3 is definitely on the cards...

I am running two next year (if admin ever gets 20/20 in 2020 set up so I'm tied up there, but maybe someone else can host a new campaign

You're welcome, it's a cool build.
Try 'two toned chips', you're already halfway there with the sponge chips.
Put down a much lighter tone of your base color with the sponge.
(dont panic, it looks like crap at this point)
Then 'fill' the centers with the chipping color you used.
A very light acrylic 'wash' of the chip color, sometimes called mapping, over the area tones down the differences.

light chips (sponge or brush)

darker centers

different model, but with the light 'wash' blending

Zon , thanks. It’s stupid easy to accomplish. If a ham-fisted mook like me can manage, some of you artists ought to really be able to make this technique shine.

Many, many thanks Mike (D). The pictures really brought your method to life. Pretty much the last I need to do other than adding a wee bit' dust.

Ditto, Bogi!

That poor "platform" must have experienced a lot of rockin' when the gun was fired...

Anyway- lovely conversion/kitbash!
Looking forward to see more pictures of it(once you finish with the other members of your Flak battery ),

Excellent finish Bogi. It looks Fantastic.

Life (Wife) has gotten in the way of hobby this last week. I have finished the detailing of the Crusader AA and have most of one set of Fruil tracks done. These are very time consuming as all links have burrs to be removed and need drilling out. Lots of flash needing cleaning too which is not easy with the numerous meshing 'Fingers' on these links...

Pics when the tracks are completed

I've almost got the launcher on the SA-4 painted. Might get to final assembly of it tonight.

Been working on all the indy link tracks for the past two days.

Still have the hull to prime and paint and the missiles to assemble.

Richard, Angel, Peter, thank you. Hopefully some staff members will take a look at this campaign too and see that few of us need extension.

Pete, that looks great.

It's always interesting to me to see the struggles and the 'before' warts of some kits before the final paint and weathering.

Yes. This one has its share too. The area around the air filters is out of proportion - mainly a little too long. To correct that was not worth the effort of resizing the air filter box and tray, removing fender reinforcing detail, etc and then adding the small cover strip over the fender join which is the thing missing and helps you pick out the error if you know what to look for.

I did fix the error with the main armament though. The guns are actually offset. This is very noticeable in the interior pic I posted earlier and from close inspection of wartime photos. Italeri has them in perfect sync .

When you are looking for the missing track pads, check the furball's coat....
