To me that's one of the iconic armored vehicles.

"What did you do in the war, daddy?"

"Well son, I drove a Rolls Royce, with a big machine gun on it."

I doubt I'd have the patience to fix a kit that bad however, wish one of the A-list mfg. would do it. Nice work!

George does super work, and I've had the priveledge of seeing some of his other dioramas and vehicles in the local IPMS show-- this is an outstanding example of his work. I think the Tommy's War figure is actually 1/32 scale to go with the 1/32 scale white metal kit offering from Scale Link. I've had the good fortune to own all three of the available RR kits, and but traded the white metal and Roden Plastic kits away, deciding to keep the resin Resicast version. My hat is off to George for creating another fine model out of this difficult Roden kit.

I've heard negative comments about the Roden RR before, and I just don't get it. I built the 1920 pattern kit a couple of years back and had very few issues and certainly no major problem. Its not a Tamiya, but I thought it was a pretty nice kit.

Maybe I just went in with lowered expectations, which made me think more highly of it after I was finished.

You're right in certain respects-- it's not a bad kit, but it has typical Roden issues, the plastic is hard, overscale in thickness, there's a rough bumpy finish on it in places and some flash. There are a few fit issues too. The 1920 RR kit is different from the 1914 pattern in that the wheels are PE, and are difficult to shape, but all these issue can be overcome, and a great model can be made-- as George has done. I personally like the Resicast kit best. The fidelity of scale is better, even though it's resin and more difficult to work with. Side by side, you can see the difference in the "finess" of the parts. The Scale Link kit is in 1/32 (54mm) scale and it's very nice, but it's a little more difficult because it's done in white metal, but it too is very detailed, even though the parts are also a little heavy and thick.

Its a great subject ,too bad its such a bad kit ! I don`t have the time or patience for it . the Russian hobby craft car is the same thing ! why doesnt Tamiya or Dragon , or any "better" manufacturers make these , instead of endless tigers!

The theme from "Lawrence of Arabia" is sounding in my ears....

The kit isn't THAT bad. See my review here.
