I have the Gun mounted to its carriage .
I spread the mount arms and inserted the Gun so.

It works pretty good this way.

More parts yet to install.

Yes the Breach was Green.

Erm, no. Thats a repainted museum colour scheme, green gun breech and silver interior (Brits tend to have silver interior colours on vehicles in the 40s-50s).

Was working on the Gun Barrel, there is what Trumpeter calls Riffling . It looks a lot like screw threads .

Are you going to try and correct this Sam?

It must have been a lot of fun loading this piece, first getting the projectile in far enough then getting the Propellant Casing in and closing the Breach I wonder what the rate of fire was?

That's all for now.

Hi David - yeah I am - just not 100% sure on how to tackle it. I think i'll remove all detail there and add the lands and grooves using thin plastic strip, cut at an angle. I guess It only needs to go in an inch at most, just to give the impression of correct rifling.

Here's the drivers instruments they'r from Archer Fine Transfers, I don't know how accurate they are but they'r better than what the kit gives you. (Nothing)

A close up.

Working on the upper hull now.
I removed the Bolt Heads from the edge on the upper side & drilled out the holes.

Did the same for the Drivers area.

I can verify that. Bovington Museum have several German vehicles where the gun breech is green, but when you check German photos from WW2 you never see that.
Their Tiger can be compared to photos of the actual same vehicle from WW2 and it wasn't green then but it was painted green after the war.

Germany had a style of painting for armoured vehicles and green breeches wasn't a part of it.

Continuing on the upper hull.
I glued the inner and outer rear plates together.

There's a seam around the hatch opening that needs filling if you are to leave it open.

The Drivers Periscope mount needs trimming on its back edge as it's slightly to big.

All the inner panels are installed.

Here's the rear brace in position, I only glued the small side partes so I could adjust the brace.

Back to the rear plate, there's a roof support that goes along the top edge. I just tac glued it on until the plate was installed. The support will angle to meet the supports on the sides.

I had some slight gaps on both sides, easily filled.

The front Plate is rather tricky to install, here is how I did it.

Insert the bottom edge into the hull first.

Tilt the Plate to the rear as shown note the space shown by the black arrow.

Lift up slightly on the plate and hook it over the edge.

Slide the plate to the rear ang glue in place.

You may have to glue it a little at a time to fit it right.
That's it for now.

I've been working on the drivers area hatch plate and hatches, I hope this information helps you who are building this.

I added an extension to the hatch pin as shown, otherwise the hatch won't sit straight .

Note position of the lift mechanism .

The next 3 Pics. are from Dimitry Kolomytsev s 1/16th. Tiger II build here on this site.
This is just to show more clearly the Hatch detail and the positions of the parts in both the open and closed position.
I'm not trying to take any credit for the work. Dmitry if you don't like this let me know and I'll deleat it.
Donald

Check out Dmitry's 1/16th Tiger II Build it's Fantastic.

I have the Engine Deck finished.
I changed some of the parts around as the ones in the instructions didn't have the openings in their backside .

I also repositioned the AA Gun Mount Base as Sam did.
Here's the back side.

The rest of the Deck.

I filled in all the defects in the back side.

That's all for now.

I finally have some more done, my wife has been driving me nuts this past week. I think I need a separate hobby area away from the house.

Well enough on my problems, back to work.
Here's the bow Mg. I removed the shoulder stock .

Now on test installing the Drivers area roof pannel.

It doesn't fit this way.

Not this way either.

The only way I found was to first insert the hatch lifting parts, then slide the panel toward the front and then lower the rear edge into position.

You'r not going to be able to see much of this.

On installing the Upper Hull to the Lower Hull, insert part of the Gun this far.

Then install the Drivers Area Roof.

You may as well glue it down as it isn't going to be removable.

This is why.

The Gun gets in the way.

I started gluing the Hull together with the rear hull panel.

While the glue is drying I assembled the Mantlet the seam needs putting

Either I screwed up here or Trumpeter made the walls in the engine area to short, I ended with gaps there.

That's all for a while.

Great progress Donald!

I moved my AA mount as there are numerous Jagdtigers with them in different spots, I think I copied the location of the mount on X5 of sPzJrAbt 512.

The rear plate/sponson floor gaps, I think I have them on mine too. I dont think you did anything wrong there!

Thanks for the info. on the sponson gaps Sam.
I was also refering to the gaps on the firewall and engine compartment deviders. Trumpeter used the parts from their Tiger II kit. T did some measuring of both the Tiger II & jagdtiger rear hull. It looks like they made the Jagdtiger rear upper engine deck higher, see below.

with the ruler at the same spot on both models I get 48mm for the Tiger II & 53mm for the jagdtiger. They should have made new parts here.

This isn't right for a kit listed for about $400 U.S. Dollars.

Here is how I fixed it, Sam you will probably do a better job of this than I could ever dream of doing. It will be interesting to see how you do it.

It still needs another coat of primer.

I test fitted the Gun and Mantlet, to see if the Drivers Roof panel would be removable.

It's not, you would have to remove the Hatch raising mechanisms to get the panel off. you'r not going to see much inside this area.

Here's what the fighting compartment looks like right now. I still have to add the wall ammo rack with the 2 rounds in it. The instructions have it installed before closing up the hull.
It's in the way that way and better left for after the hull is joined together.

I'll be finishing up the interior next.
That's all for now.

Ill check mine tonight and report back. I dont remember seeing such a gap on mine, but its probably there, hiding in plain sight and I missed seeing it
