The right side shaft is two parts, you will need to glue it in 3 spots.
That completes the drive parts.
I trimmed the end of C10 . it wouldn't fit .
The end is under the side seat and isn't visible .
Here I extended the exhaust pipes to the rear armor plate . most of it probably will not be visible.

I have a little more done.
Added some wires to the drivers instruments (probably the wrong location, but it looks good)
Some conduit to the side boxes. Found a small red cross for the first aid kit.
I'm going to start the preliminary painting on the lower hull soon so I made a template for the bogie mounting areas.
It's easier to keep the paint off than remove it later.

Now for the Sprockets.
I think that these are the worst fitting parts of this kit so far.
Here is how I corrected it.
I trimmed the bottom side edge of each of the spokes on the outer
Sprocket as shown.
I also trimmed the edge of the inner Sprocket as shown.
A much better fit now.

Continuing on with the Sprocket installation.
I dry mounted the inner Sprocket to the gear housing.
Then applied a little liquid glue to the pin from the back side.
It's the same for both sides.
One Sprocket needed a lot of putty.
The other didn't
I must have trimmed it too much ?

I just received from Squadron shop the 1/16 Panzer IV J
kit I haven't had a chance to look through it yet but from my preliminary examination I think that I would go with the J model over the H one. It has the mesh schutzen

I'm glad you like it, for the Brass on the shell casings I used the allclad that you mentioned over Gloss Black Enamel.
I think it came out a little to dark. Next time I'm going to try it over Gloss Grey or Gloss White.

This next batch of Pics. will cover the Wheel assembly and all of the running gear except the track.
Have the Wheels, Sprockets, & Bogie units painted.
Next I painted the Tires while they are attached to the sprue ,this makes them a lot easier to handle .
There isn't a lot of clean up for the tires , the mold seam around the outside is barely there. I let it be. The major clean up is the Sprue attachment points.
There is lettering on the outside if the tire spelled CONTINEVTAL
At first I thought they actually used the correct spelling for
CONTINENTAL Dragon does it better with the U at the end.

I masked off the center part of the inside of the wheels where they mate and painted the edges with Model Masters Steel Metalizer.
Now don't get excited the tire is only partially installed .

A word on joining the inside and outside wheels together, the holes in the wheel backs are a little small. Apply the glue to the holes and area where the masking was sparingly and squeeze the wheels together.

You have to mount the inside part of the idler to its mount with a pin, and then install the outside half.
This makes it almost impossible to clean up the joint . I'm leaving it as is.
All the running gear is now installed.
I thing that I'll do the Track next.

Here I have installed the radiator, this is to show why it is not really necessary to get to excitad about the Generator / APU.
With the radiator in place not much of it is visible.
When the upper hull is installed you probably will not see much of it if anything at all.
I'm working on the Track next.
That is a lot of pieces to clean up.

I started cleaning the track, the 3 burrs on the one edge are easy.
The two on the other side need a little care. Trim the track from the Sprue leaving a little stub and finish trimming with a knife, don't forget the little pieces that stick up or the track will not fit right.

This has nothing to do with the build in progress.
I have been looking through the 1/16th. Panzer IV J kit , I don't know if anyone has shown the Side Skirts for the J model , but
Hear They Are.
Really Really Nice.
The Photo-etch has the plastic attachment parts molded right to the Etch parts.
This is the first time that I have ever seen this.
Any comments?
