Russ Amott builds the Roden 1/72 scale Opel 3.6-47 Omnibus, an unusual but important workhorse of Germany in WWII.

Thanks, Russ.
My 7-year-old was very excited about the ads for this, so I bought it to build together. Based on your review, I'll plan for slow-going and care. It doesn't look like the ideal project for us, but the subject is very cool. Like you say, unusual but important.

James, thanks for getting this posted.

Sal, I looked at some stills from the movie. They were dark, and I think the bus is close, but a little more modern looking than the Opel. I'll have to watch the movie now to see better. As for kits in 1/35, the link in the review includes some models. All are either scratch builds or aftermarket. I'm really hoping someone comes out with a 1/35 version. Cyberhobby has released the very nice Opel Blitz, and it is both German and an off topic, so they could do one, or ICM maybe.

Sean, I tried this with my son and model buddy, Andrew. Parts fit and lack of specific placement of parts put him off. We are currently building the Sd.Kfz.4/1 munitionsschlepper, also from Roden. Still has lots of tiny parts, but it goes together easily and fit is great.

Russ,

A most concise and informative review. However, and unfortunately, this isn't the first manufacturer to be providing the builder with faulty, vague and/or inaccurate instructions lately. I certainly hope that this isn't going to become a trend! While a truly interesting subject but building small scale is challenging enough without having to deal with more problems.

Cheers,
Jan
