German Locomotive Engineer
1/35 German Locomotive Conductor

introduction

I have always loved trains, and I wish there were better trains for 1/35th armor. Trumpeter and Dragon have both released some rolling stock, and Trumpeter for awhile seemed bent on reproducing most of Germany's locomotives, rolling stock and rail guns. That has tailed off, and those of us who love trains have had to make do with what's out there. When it comes to crewing the train models, it's pretty dismal.

LZ Models have worked hard to improve both the trains and now their masters, releasing a set of three resin figures to work on the trains. The latest is a locomotive conductor (what we'd call an "engineer" in the States).

the review

The casting is the usual excellence we've come to expect from LZ, though the pose is a bit stiff, much like an old-time photograph. Still, the detailing is good, and the figure should go together nicely. One good feature is a "node" on the ends of the arms that fits into a socket on the body of the figure, insuring a nice, snug fit.

The clothing looks period-correct, and the facial hair seems in keeping with 1940s German fashion among the working class. There isn't much to say about the figure, other than that he'll work in almost any power plant of the era.

conclusion

While the pose isn't the greatest feat of sculpture, I'm really happy to have this figure to add to the Trumepter BR-52 loco I'm spending sleepless nights building (that's another story). If you love trains and armor, this figure series is for you.

Thanks to LZ Models for this review sample. Be sure to mention you saw it reviewed here on Armorama when ordering.
