Lenses and taillights for ShKH vz. 77 Dana

Introduction

I do not believe a month goes by without SKP Model releasing one or two sets of their lenses and taillights sets onto the market. In this review I will be looking at their latest set which is for the ShKH vz. 77 Dana from HobbyBoss in 1/35th scale.

Contents

The product is supplied inside a zip lock bag which is attached to a card hanger and consists of a single photo etched fret.

This set consists of 22 lenses in total with 22 photo etched pieces, the lenses breakdown as follows;

• 2 sizes of clear lenses
• 2 sizes of amber lenses
• 1 size of red lenses
• 1 pair of lenses that are half red and half amber

Review

The clear lenses replace the headlights and the smaller clear lenses and PE discs that sit beneath the wing mirrors. The 9 smallest amber lenses and smallest photo etched discs replace the four reflectors that run down each side of the vehicle with one spare. The two red lenses are, I believe, for the light that sits high up at the side of the cab and I believe are indicators.

The five large amber lenses and PE discs are for the indicators at the front of the vehicle and I believe the reflectors at the rear and the light on the rear of the turret. The half and half lenses and PE discs are for the rear of the vehicle, and remember it is amber up and red down. There are also two thin photo etched lengths which are similar to straps but their purpose is unknown to me.

The lenses are all perfectly placed on their photo etched backings and in the case of the headlights careful placement will be needed as the lines seen in headlights are replicated. So far as I can tell I believe all of the lenses required for the exterior of the Dana are replicated and will greatly improve the detail in these areas.

Conclusion

This is yet another great set of lenses from SKP Model that really improves the realism and appearance of the lights on your model and I highly recommend that you check SKP Model for these and other light sets. The price of this product and others in this range is very affordable and greatly improves the appearance of the lights on any model.

SUMMARY
Highs: There is no alternative I know off that increases the realism of lights on a model equal or better than this product.
Lows: There are no obvious lows to this product as long as the lenses are correctly positioned on the photo etched fret.
Verdict: This is an inexpensive update that greatly improves the finished look of the Dana, highly recommended.

Would somebody who has this set mind measuring the lenses? I'd like to know if I can use it for another project. Thanks

Kimmo tell me which ones and I will try to help. I should add that perhaps the lights from Little cars company will help. Here is a link to a review on the site Click here

Ohhh...that looks like a good place to spend more money, thank you. I think..... If you wouldn't mind, the headlight and the smaller red/amber ones. Thanks again.

Kimmo, The diameter of the headlights are 4.5mm, with a height of 1mm. If you mean the combined red/amber lense, that is 3.5mm diameter and 1mm height. Or the smaller individual red and amber ones are 2mm diameter each, again with a height of 1mm. Funny thing about the combined one is that it looks completely amber when viewed frokm different angles, and hopefully I can work out what those 2 straps(?) are for.

Just a tad large on the headlights. Of course. Thanks for the info. The reds and ambers may come in handy.
