Introduction

Since the introduction of mechanized vehicles in modern warfare, fuel has been a key element of the battlefield and it supply chain as well.

German have developed an ingenious can during WWII with two main design features still used nowadays, namely the X embossed on both sides and the 3 handles. The x shape on the side has been introduce in order to give extra flexibility to the container due to fuel vapor release when exposed to extreme temperatures like in desert environment. The 3 handles allow 2 people to easily carry the can.

Pro Art Models is busy releasing kits to pimp up the M1078 SF support vehicle and this kit is part of the deal. As always the resins parts are pack in a plastic zip lock and protected by a strudy carton box.

Content of kit

7 Water cans and 28 Fuel Cans

Review

Fuel can - The jerrycans are a direct copy from the AFV ones and the details are crisped and the lettering on the sides: Fuel 20L 5G are clearly visible.
The casting job is pretty good since most of the handles are free of resin underneath. The resin plugs are located on the bottom of the cans, there is no detail present.

Water can - The water cans are really well cast and as mentioned above the handles are free of resins films.

Conclusion

Due to high number of jerrycans and price, this is a must have. At the time of writing this review, I did not have the similar kit from Real Model to compare with.

Good review Seb. I will say I'm surprised that there are only 7 water cans in the set. With Iraq and Afghanistan in full swing and the significant use of water cans, only including 7 in the set doesn't make much sense.

I could use a few sets of the fuel cans to fill up the back of my Canadian M548A1 build!
