Contents:

This stencil set from Voyager consists of three pieces of photo-etch wheel masks. Two pieces measure 5.75x2.5” and the third is 7.5x2.5” All three pieces contain individual mask/stencil for various Tamiya AFV’s each marked with the vehicle for which they are used. The individual pieces can be removed from the larger fret in the same manner as a regular photo-etch part.
The set is packaged in a plastic sleeve with a piece of card stock with the PE frets taped on so they won’t be bent or damaged easily. Also included is an instruction, sheet 8x3.5”, printed on two sides showing you how to use the mask/stencil.

Vehicles:

The following is a list of the vehicles covered by Voyager in this set:

• Sd.Kfz.251,
• Tiger I,
• Marder III/Hetzer,
• Type-97,
• Sherman VVSS,
• Wespe,
• PZ.II Ausf A/B/C,
• M3 Halftrack,
• BT-7,
• M26,
• Willys,
• Staghound,
• Cromwell/Centaur,
• M8/M20,
• Universial Carrier,
• GMC,
• British Light Duty car 10hp,
• Sd.Kfz.232,
• Steyr 1500,
• Famo,
• PZIII,
• PZIV,
• Opel Truck,
• Kubelwagen Type82,
• Sd.Kfz.222/223,
• Krupp,
• Panther G.

There are two templates marked ‘Kubelwagen Type82’ I believe one should be marked Schwimmwagen 166 as essentially the mask works on both vehicle wheels.

Conclusion:

If you build Tamiya AFV kits you’ll find this makes life much easier when painting the road wheels. Also good for making perfect circles in different sizes (like the white part of a Nazi flag) Although made with Tamiya kits in mind I’m sure these can be used on other manufacturers kits of similar AFV’s (like Dragon Panthers)
SUMMARY
Highs: Versatile, useful tool that makes the tedious job of wheel painting considerably easier.
Lows: None really.
Verdict: Makes me want to break out Tamiya kits from the stash! Seriously, this tool from Voyager is a real time saver when it comes to painting with an airbrush.

I live in the mountains north of Santa Cruz California. I have been building now since the early 1990's when I rediscovered modeling. Most of my kits are built with dioramas in mind. I took a "creative block" hiatis for a couple years - 2011 to 2013. I wasn't active in the modeling world. During tha...
