Brief History

Ever wondered what the long poles on the fenders of German Armored Car were? They’re Width Indicators, used to give the driver and loader of Armored Cars a heads up on if he was going to hit an object while driving or the side of the hold when loading/unloading. One of these indicators were on each corner of the fenders facing outward slightly, giving the driver/loader a reference point on where the fenders were to avoid damaging them or any other drive components.

Mirrors were placed on the front right/left indicators during travel on roadways. These Indicators and mirrors, by all accounts, could be removed from the fenders and stored while the vehicle was in open country.

Contents

Kit #LE35112 is enclosed in a plastic bag with a printed cardboard insert showing the Lion Roar logo with an identification sticker of said parts. Website information is printed on the back of the cardboard insert and the instructions are placed on the back as well. The parts themselves are inside a resealable small plastic bag taped to the insert. These parts replace the kit poles for Tamiya's Sd.Kfz.232 on all four corners.

This set contains four Width Indicator poles in turned brass, one resin mirror with mount, and six mounting brackets on one small PE fret. Two of these brackets are triangled in shape, with the remaining four round . The instructions indicate that you can use either the round or triangular ones for the front mounts, and are simple to understand for placement. It's recommended to check references to use the proper ones if depicting a certain vehicle. No painting guide or decals was included with this kit. PE experience is needed, but not required in my opinion.

conclusion

With the flood of PE items on the market it's refreshing to see someone address these parts, and Lion Roar from China is one of the companies that has. This set, kit #35112, is designed for the Tamiya Sd.Kfz.232. Although references show mirrors mounted on the right and left poles, this kit only includes one.
SUMMARY
Highs: Easy to read and understand instructions. Price is within reason.
Lows: Tiny, delicate parts. PE experience is needed, but not really required. The mirror mount is the challenge with this kit if one has no experience in dealing with tiny parts. Only one mirror included.
Verdict: Very well packaged product, priced within reason, fills a void that normally is overlooked in builds.
