Warrior MCV

by: Sabot [ SABOT ]

introduction
After being on the market for five years, the Revell Warrior MCV finally gets an Eduard photo etched detail set. While designed for Revell’s Warrior kit number 03128, it could be used with the reissued Warrior MCV with add-on armor number 03144.

the set
The photo etched fret includes 48 different parts, some in multiple numbers. Like most 1/72 scale photo etched sets, many of the tiny bits would only be used by an experienced modeler. The four page instruction sheet is clearly illustrated, but do not follow the kit assembly instructions steps. One of the first steps that need to be done is to identify the parts and details on the model that need to be removed or prepared prior to the kit assembly. This is the time to decide whether or not to use the specific photo etched detail parts.

The majority of the tiny pieces are hinges, hasps, clamps and tie down details that many modelers would not choose to use. The Eduard set adds more accurate replacement front and rear fenders along with rear mud flaps. It adds a new communication wire reel and rack to the rear of the hull that is better detailed and more in scale.

The one main piece that Eduard provides is a two piece photo etched bustle rack. It is nicely done and replaces the solid molded bustle rack, parts 60, 61, 62 and 63. They also add two photo etched turret sponson boxes not included with the Revell kit.

Some of the smaller turret detail parts enhance the sight assembly and add a wire cutter to the main gun mantlet. There are also turret hatch detail parts. Eduard includes hull details that add mesh grill covers to the engine intakes, headlight guard cage, and replaces the solid plastic side storage bin with a photo etched mesh one.

This set is a smaller set reminiscent of the older Eduard photo etched sets. Because of this the parts are used to enhance the existing kit parts and not try to replace plastic with photo etch. Since it is a simpler set, it will be easier for a less experienced modeler to use on the Revell kit. There are also fewer wasted parts than most of Eduard’s newer sets.

in conclusion
This set is recommended and will enhance the look of the Revell kit.

My thanks to Eduard for the review sample.
