Introduction:
Kitty Hawk’s AH-6J/MH-6J Little Bird (KH50004) comes with resin figures, two pilots and four Special Ops team members on the outboard benches. So, why did Live Resin decide to produce another set of resin figures for the helicopter? Read the review to find out.

Review:
Live Resin so far released 7 figures designed for Kitty Hawk’s Little Bird. This review covers the MH-6 Little Bird Helicopter Crew Set - Pilot 2 (LRM-35051) while the reviews of other Live Resin offerings can be accessed here: link.

The figure kit comes in a hard cardboard box. The CAD box art on the front displays the figure from several different angles, while the one on the back shows the figure inside the helicopter cockpit noting the figure is designed to fit Kitty Hawk’s MH-6 Little Bird offering (KH50004). Opening the box reveals a zip-lock bag additionally protected with bubble wrap. The kit consists of 7 pieces:

- torso and legs,
- right arm,
- left arm,
- head w helmet,
- left boot,
- right boot,
- right hand with cyclic stick.

The pieces are cast in grey resin. The cast is very impressive, as the resin is clean of any imperfections with stunning amount of superbly defined details. I noticed the damage to the seatbelt on the left shoulder, similar to that of MH-6 Little Bird Helicopter Crew Set - Pilot 1 (LRM-35050) figure. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the broken bit in the zip-lock bag. The casting blocks are easy to remove using sharp side cutters. Part cleanup is very much straightforward with minimal sanding required.

Before assembling the figure, I checked the fit of the figure parts. Designed with square protrusions and indentations, the optimal positioning of the pieces is easy to achieve. The fit is tight and minimal putty work is needed to get things perfect.

The figure wears Army Aircrew Combat Uniform (A2CU), a two-piece flight suit similar to the Army Combat Uniform (ACU) but with some aviator-specific modifications. Over the uniform, the figure wears Air Warrior Primary Survival Gear Carrier (PSGC) system, a modular combat aircrew ensemble, with holster, ammo pouches and several other equipment pieces, as well as seat belts, cast on the figure torso. On his head the figure sports HGU56/P helmet with Maxillofacial Shield and ANVIS NVG mount. All the details of the uniform and equipment are impressively defined and accurately delivered.

Once assembled, the two pilots (LRM-35050 & LRM-35051) look very similar, as most of the pieces in the two figure sets are identical. However, the different left hands and different head positions provide enough variation so the two pilots can be used together. Unfortunately, I can’t comment on fitting the pilot figures to Kitty Hawk’s MH-6 Little Bird model, as I don’t have the particular kit in my stash.

Conclusion:
What’s not to like in MH-6 Little Bird Helicopter Crew Set - Pilot 2 (LRM-35051) set? The figure is superbly cast and very easy to assemble, providing a very realistic representation of a modern day US helo pilot in 1/35 scale. Together with the rest of MH-6 Little Bird crew offered from Live Resin, this miniature is a far superior alternative to Kitty Hawk’s crew figures supplied with the helicopter kit.

You wonder how did this addiction start? I was a kid when my dad broght home a 1/72 Concord airplane; we built it together as well as couple of other airplanes after that. This phase was just pure fun: glue, paint, decals in no particular order... everything was finished in a day or two. Then I disc...
