Introduction

Not all U.S. duty tours in Vietnam War were alike. For an administrative officer working in office in Saigon city who has never been close to combat, his tour can look like a peacetime duty. Sailors and aviators had perils and problems of their own. About 15% of the 2.8 million Vietnam veterans were in direct combat roles and at most one million were ever exposed to hostile fire. Army or Marine infantry ground troops, especially the Grunts on the line had a special experience that should be understood and remembered.

B6-35313 Grunt (4) - Willie Tex depicts a Vietnam War US Grunt on a standing pose wearing standard tropical jungle uniform and carrying an M16A1 rifle.
Review

  • Kit content comes well packed in standard BRAVO*6 cardboard box labeled with a photo of the assembled and painted figure. Body part and small parts like head, arm and field gear are seperately inserted into two transparent zip-lock bags.

  • Casting is clean with no mistakes or air bubbles and details are very sharp. A fast cleanwork will be needed to get rid of a few seamlines on the right arm and rifle.

  • Sculpted in 1/35 scale and cast in resin, figure shows a charismatic strong standing pose with his left hand on ammo pouch and right hand holding a rifle.pose Body parts ; He wears standard U.S Army clothing with tropical uniform of jacket, trousers and canvas-leather combined boots. Folds and wrinkles on the uniform, semi-loaded pockets with flap covers, utility belt, trotters inserted inside boots, boot laces are all well defined, sharp and clean cast. He has a wrist watch tied to the button hole on the collar. It was common during Vietnam War because on this hot and humid climate, wrist watch could rub the skin and cause inflamation or infection. Two M16 ammo pouches attached to utility belt are cast on both sides.

  • Head is given seperately and makes a good fit to the neck. Facial features and moustache are well sculpted. He has a Boonie hat with chin strap fastened on top.

  • Right arm in upfolded sleeves. He carries M16A1 rifle sculpted in nice details. You will need to drill a hole for the muzzle.

  • M-1956 one quart canteen - 2 pieces

  • M7 bayonet in M8A1 scabbard - 2 pieces
    Conclusion

Strong posed figure sculpted in clean and crisp details with standard uniform, field gear and weapon.Cast in high quality with no need for a serious cleanwork. It can be displayed with other Grunts released on September 2018 ; Joe Boonie Rat, Eddie, Steve Kid and can a find a place in all Vietnam War scenes with a replaced head with or without helmet.

    Highly Recommended
